We hung up the new wall decorations this weekend and they look fabulous. Loving the mirror and colorful painting. Going to really love the picture frames, when I get our family pictures in them. Which still have to be taken. But I figured putting up the frames with the generic pictures in them would force me to coordinate a family picture time sooner. I guess we will see.
I also purchased a few small items to tie in some colors. The blue and orange candles on the mantle to help bring in the colors from Catrina. Also found the clock above my desk this weekend. Really really like the clock.
The decor is finally coming together. Only took almost six years?!? 🙂
If you know me, you know that interior decorating is NOT my thing. It’s not that I just don’t care. I love a coordinated looking space. I just have the worst time visualizing what things will look like when I actually get them home. My brain goes over and over: what if it’s the wrong color, what if it’s the wrong size or what if I am just retarded and it would look horrible in that room. I am aware that the fate of the free world doesn’t rest on my decision but it is still daunting to me.
So I am marveled. Basically my whole living room has had a face lift from two shopping trips. And no tears or cussing happened at either trip.
My handsome husband and I found new living room furniture last weekend that we both really liked and at a very reasonable price . It was delivered today and it looks fabulous in our living room. However, it didn’t look fabulous with the wall art we already had in there. Thankfully we weren’t married to that art, and those pieces will work just fine in our other living room. But that did leave me needing to find replacement wall decorations. Ugh, here comes the tension..but luckily I had my daughter, Sabrina, with me.
She and I went out and conquered the home decor store. We found several pieces that will help bring together the room. One piece that we bought even coordinates with the Catrina piece on the mantel. (Once everything is hung and in place, I’ll post some pics.)
Most importantly, my handsome husband liked the wall decor as well! I would say that today was a great day!
My husband introduced me to Casa Galaviz, a small mom and pop Mexican food restaurant in Denton, Texas, about nine years ago. When he lived in Lewisville, before we got married and moved to Plano, we use to go pretty regularly, but now, sadly not so much. Three beef tacos with lettuce and tomatoes for him and two beef and cheese tacos for me with Big Red drinks for us both. Yummy! Their seasoned beef and homemade tortillas and salsa are more than worth the thirty minute trip from Plano.
Joe and Betty
The only thing better than the food are the owners, Joe and Betty. Joe is the ultimate small business owner, call each customer that comes in by name remembering their order preferences and genuinely happy to see them. He takes the time to talk with the customers while taking their orders, and Betty is filling the orders and smoothly running the kitchen.
Tacos at Galaviz is a nice Sunday outing my husband and I don’t get to do as often as we like, but when we do smiles and thumbs up all around.
